We have an awesome team behind the scenes at CTN, including a rockstar board. We are so grateful for the support and guidance they provide. Let’s get to know them.

Mike Gerue, past board chair and current board member, has volunteered with us since 2014. We asked him a few questions about his experience volunteering with CTN.

Why is the work CTN does important to the community?

Our vision statement says it the best: CTN envisions a community in which all people have the freedom and independence to pursue a fulfilling life.  We provide independence for members of our community and many of us take for granted when we walk into the garage and get into our vehicle and drive where and when we want.  To be able to provide this to those less fortunate than many of us is why I serve this amazing organization.

What were you surprised to learn about CTN when you first got involved?

I did not know the history of CTN, its roots and the services provided.  So much has changed in the 10 years serving CTN and our community.

Do you have a favorite memory from your time with CTN?

Not a favorite memory or time in our lives, but I was so proud of the CTN team in the beginning months of COVID.  The team pivoted, modified their approach, and served the community to the best of their ability during the pandemic.   Many lessons learned during that time that have made this organization stronger under its leadership team.

How does CTN impact its riders?

As noted above, dignity and enabling many in our community to live with the independence they deserve.  Whether a trip for medical care, a career opportunity, or ride to the grocery store – without CTN their independence and dignity would be reduced
